cheers to home ownership...

We had some friends over for dinner tonight.  It was our first time to have people over to our new house and cook for them. So, we were very excited.  Okay...maybe I was a little more nervous than excited.  I'll be honest, it's been a while since we have actually had more than two people over for dinner.  It was hard to fit more than just us in our tiny one bedroom apartment.  So, now that we have a house I wanted everything to be perfect.  I wanted the house to be clean and the food to taste great.  You know, fool people into thinking I am organized and a good cook.  Quite frankly, I have been a little stressed about it for about a week.  I changed the menu about 7 times and prayed daily that I would be able to enjoy myself.  I know, it's ridiculous.  But, this type of thing is well, not my kind of thing.  I wish it was.  And, i know with a little practice I will get better at it.  So, at least this time, (thank the Lord) the food was good (or so they said), I had time this afternoon to do a little cleaning and the company was great.  It seemed like everything was going without a hitch.  Until....the disposal pretty much exploded.  Yep, cheers to home ownership.  I had peeled a few potatoes into the sink and I guess they got stuck.  I am sure it is common knowledge that you don't put the peels into the sink...but, i didn't know.  We cleaned out the peels and pushed the reset button underneath the sink.  When we started the disposal a pipe literally popped a apart and water began to SPEW EVERYWHERE.  After about 30 minutes of cleaning a flood of water and potato peels...here is what we are left with tonight -

a million dishes and no way to clean them!

I imagine that tomorrow morning I will be in the backyard hosing the dishes down with water praying that the disposal will be fixed soon.  Even still, I thank God that we even have a sink to break, the chance to have people over for dinner at our very own house, and a new memory to look back on a laugh about some day down the road.
