13 years ago my parents sat us down to tell us they were getting a divorce.
During the next 8 years God began to move in the lives of both my mom and dad in a major way.
6 years ago my brother, sister, parents' friends and I began praying for reconciliation between my parents on our own..having no idea that the others were praying for the exact same thing at the exact same time.
I called my brother and sister one night from my college apartment to tell them what I had journaled the night before. Much to my surprise, we were all three praying the same prayer.
God is faithful and hears our prayers. 5 1/2 years ago my Dad felt like God was telling him to pursue my Mom again. Mean while, my Mom had been praying for and reading a book about reconciliation. He called my mom, and after 8 years of divorce they began dating.
I will never forget the day 5 years and a few months ago that my parents sat us down again...but this time the occasion was joyful as they told us about their upcoming wedding.
5 years ago I stood next to my brother and sister as my parents got married....AGAIN!
Almost 4 years ago, as i married my best friend, my parents sat hand in hand, married. Tears fill my eyes as I realize God's goodness in bringing them together before that day.
Today we celebrate 5 years of wedded bliss for my Mom and Dad.
But more importantly, we celebrate our gracious God who is faithful. performs miracles and loves us beyond imagination. He is so good and his ways are so much better than all of our plans.
Mom and Dad,
Thank you for being faithful in prayer and obedient to what God has called you. I have learned so much from you as I have watched you rely on God through the ups and downs and love each other well. You remind me of what marriage is really all about.
I love you!
