back to school

School starts tomorrow and I am actually very excited. Excited to see the little ones again. Excited to be around the wonderful people I work with. Excited for a routine. And, excited for a new year. I am reading a book called When I Don't Desire God: How to Fight for Joy by John Piper. It has been life changing. This morning I was reading about prayer. It explains the importance of praying scripture. And, that a lot of times (when our prayers aren't soaked in scripture) we simply bring our natural desires to God. This is not a bad thing, but when our prayers are God centered, they begin to change. We still pray for those things (health, marriage, job) but now what you want to happen is that, in all these, Christ will be exalted. This is my prayer for teaching this year.

"Your prayer for your job is not merely that it be stable and peaceful and prosperous, but that it truly serves the needs of society and that in all your labor and all your relationships your joy in Christ and your love for people would make a name for Jesus." John Piper

Praying that my love for people will make a name for Him every day...
